Your craigslist account needs to be confirmed!

Since Craigslist is an important tool in the Internet criminal’s arsenal, it of course makes sense that hijacking legitimate user’s Craigslist.org accounts would be a priority to the cyber-crooks as well.

Emails we’re seeing to achieve such identity theft include this simple message:

Subject:      Your craigslist account needs to be confirmed!
From:     ”craigslist.org”<noreply@craigslist.org>

The body of the fraudulent message says:

Important Craigslist InformationCRAIGSLIST TERMS OF USE
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify or otherwise alter your account at any time. Therefore your account has been blocked.

To avoid deletion of your Craigslist account please Sign In:

Click here to confirm your Craigslist account.

The messages attempt to induce the reader to visit the link and provide their Craigslist username and password to the Phishing baited site. In the case of this sample, the actual site visited would have been:

http://craigs-list.5u.com/account.craigslist.org/Login.html

Suffice it to say, providing any login credentials to “craigs-list.5u.com” is going to result in more fraudulent posts on Craigslist.org and nobody wants to see more of those.
