It’s a sign of times when Spammers blast out emails targeting troubled homeowners with a subject lines like:
“Selling your house?”
These fraudulent emails go on to claim:
We buy houses FAST!
Sell your house to us! We are a direct buyer.
We look at ALL property in ANY condition. Whether your house is pretty or ugly, old or new, in good or poor condition, we’re here to help. check it out now
The reality is these frauds are looking to collect leads of desperate and naive homeowners that need to sell. They will then turn around and try to sell (though more spam, no doubt) the owner’s information to real estate agents and investor’s looking for deals.
While there’s certainly more than one spammer in this bogus lead-generation business, many of these (like the one above) track back to disposable domains like: [65.254.36.196] (helo=seez196.hifalophase.com).
This domain, and many others, are registered to:
Registrar: MONIKER ONLINE SERVICES, INC.
This in turn leads to a dedicated spammer in Missouri (records point to Steven Edwards 417-799-1701) who has lot’s of similar fraudulent spam domains, registered or claiming to do business at:
2359 West Farm Road 76, Springfield

They are all basically the same scam, registered to the same company and involved in highly similar spam campaigns.
Regardless of the domain used to spam you, responding to a “We Buy Houses” spam will likely end with just another variation of the countless fraud schemes the FTC warns consumers about on a regular basis.

Unusually (and stupidly) they validate forms by robocall in real time which means if you fill their property information forms with the local police station details in Springfield Mo they try and phone them up to verify the information submitted. Up till recently you could keep resubmiting the phone number (or alternates) although they seem to have fixed that possibly due to a six hour session of failed PIN submissions in the recent past though it will still take a few at a time until the database chokes on too many identical ones.
