Security Account Review! – Craigslist Fraud

Another variation of a Craigslist.org Phishing fraud is making the rounds:

Subject:      Security Account Review!
From:     ”craigslist” <update@craigslist.org>

Here’s a screen shot of the bogus email:

The body of the identity theft attempt says:

Dear Craigslist Customer,

You have an important security message from Craigslist Customer Service.

Click Here to update your account today.

Yours sincerely,

Online Customer Service

While the email might look harmless enough, the hyperlinked “click here” actually takes you to sites such as:

Once you visit the linked site (or any number of others just like it) a bogus from will attempt to lure users into providing their real Craigslist account information.

Again, since Craigslist is an important tool in the Internet criminal’s arsenal, it only makes sense that hijacking legitimate user’s Craigslist.org accounts would be a priority to the cyber-crooks as well.
