More Phishing fraud emails targeting PayPal users are arriving in in-boxes this week.
This malicious emails come to users with spoofed sending addresses and with headers such as:
Subject: Important Account Information
From: PayPal Inc. <limite@paypalim.co.uk>
The actual sender of these emails are infected servers and otherwise corrupt hosts. An example of an actual email is below:

Included in the message is the bogus warning:
PayPal temporarily suspended your account.
Reason: Billing Failure.
This of course is false information designed only to get you to take action by clicking on the link:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_login-run
While the text above claims to take you to a PayPal.com server, in reality the link is to a wide number of infected an malicious servers put in place to capture your user-name and login.
Just in case you’re thinking of not falling for this con, the additional warning is a call to action:
The information provided will be treated in confidence and stored in our secure database.
If you fail to provide required information your account will be automatically deleted from PayPal database.
And finally (they really, really want you to fall for this campaign), you’ll find these little gems in the footnotes of the email:
Note:
- If you received this message in your SPAM/BULK folder, that is because of the restrictions implemented by your ISP
- For security reasons, we will record your ip address, the date and time.
- Deliberate wrong inputs are criminally pursued and indicted.
If nothing else, you have to give this fraud’s author credit for having carefully studied sales, social engineering and persuasion tactics.
